Can you share with me how you two met and how it began?
A year ago, Jeff had recently moved to Boston for school and was new to the area. I was born and raised in Boston and had been working downtown since graduating from college. We met online with an astonishing 96% match rate! Our first date was dinner at an Asian fusion restaurant in Chinatown, followed by bubble tea for dessert and an evening walk in Boston Common. We quickly learned that we have very similar personalities and interests. We bonded over word games, TV shows and movies. We also love to travel and managed to fit in trips to Las Vegas, New York City and London last year.
Also so how long have you been dating?
We dated for 1 year – a year in which Tina went to her first music concert and hockey game, and Jeff had the most Chinese dim sum meals than he had ever had before in his life!
What was the most romantic things he/she did?
Tina: During Jeff’s year in Boston, even though his work and study schedule was very demanding, he always made time for me. We mostly only had time to see each other on weekends, but no matter what we did, our time spent together was always the best. Sometimes he cooked a meal for us, or when family and friends came to visit, he made sure he spent time with me too. Other times it was a text message in the middle of the night if he was still working or when he was traveling. He showed me he didn’t take our relationship for granted, and to me, that’s the most romantic offering ever. The way he continues to treat me everyday is assurance that he is thinking of me, and that he is always there for me.
Jeff: Tina is the most loving and caring person I know. One time, when I was coming back from a conference late on a Sunday night, she decided to surprise me at my apartment. She knew that I didn’t have any food at home since I had been gone for the past week. She was waiting in the front lobby with a whole week’s worth of groceries! I was very pleasantly surprised. Needless to say, she continues to surprise me with her acts of kindness and generosity.
How did he propose?
Tina: We had lunch with my parents and Jeff let them know that we were ready to take the next step in our relationship. We went ring shopping to get some ideas for the style of engagement ring that I liked. Although Jeff wanted to do an elaborately planned proposal, I just wanted something simple. Jeff proposed to me privately a few weeks later and then we went out for a celebratory dinner. It was very sweet, and certainly a nice start to the weekend!
